About the Journal

Journal history

Comuni@cción: Journal of Research in Communication and Development was created in 2010 as a result of the 1st Communication Research Seminar of the faculty, on the occasion of the anniversary of the creation of the Professional School of Social Communication Sciences at Universidad Nacional del Altiplano. Volume 1, issue 1 published all the papers presented at the seminar. Subsequent issues published articles by researchers from other professional schools at Universidad Nacional del Altiplano and from other universities in the country and abroad, initially with biannual periodicity.

To ensure the sustainability and periodicity of the publication, the thematic scope was expanded to the social sciences, an area in which important contributions are received from different disciplinary sub-areas. The journal thus became a platform for knowledge exchange from different geographical latitudes and fields of Social Sciences.

From 2021 to 2025, to support researchers and accelerate knowledge dissemination, the journal adopted a quarterly periodicity with publications in March, June, September, and December. Starting in January 2026, Comuni@cción takes a further step in its commitment to agile scientific communication by adopting the continuous publication model, allowing articles to be published immediately after completing the editorial process, without waiting for complete issues to be formed.
